Are GPs the highest paid doctors or medical professionals?
I always hear about the high salary rates pointing towards GPs and I would just like confirmation if possible.

I think consultants are paid more than GPs
No plastic Surgeons are they are experts at removing the plastic from your wallet
I should hope not the amount of times they are wrong about illnesses. I had to take my son to my GPs about 4 times got told 4 diff diagnoses before they sent him to the hospital…..well wasted my time
no i think most hospital consultants and surgeons get paid more i think but GPs get paid a great deal and probably earn more per hour I would say.
Consultants are the equivalent to GP’s but have had experience in a particular area (such as orthopaedics whereas GP’s trainning an experience, although takes about same time, is much more general…obviously.
No they and pediatricians are low. Neurosurgeons , thoracic surgeons or other specialists get higher pay and also have to pay higher malpractice insurance since when patients die, and they do-of perfectly normal problems no one can solve-the attorneys are ready to go after the physicians.
On average the highest paid doctors are neurosurgeons and cardiac surgeons.
the GP i know earns 120,000 per annum
prior to all the sweeteners offered to them this used to be aroun d 80,000.
its a hard life eh??
they are on par with consultants now.in fact probably out earning the majority.
thoracic surgeons have the highest pay along with nerosurgeons
no – the highest paid are specialists in the areas of neurosurgery, orthopedics, cardiology and plastic surgery.
Plastic surgery is a cash business where insurance doesn’t come into the picture so they are the highest paid. Next is radiologist because that field has a very high reimbursement from insurance and the dr can bill and treat many more patients in one day then any surgeon could.
You are going to, of course, get confused answers to this query, as most of these responders are from the US where there is no NHS.
In the US there are no longer any signifianct number, if any, General Practitioners. It is the custom here for the primary care providers to train through a residency prgram in either, Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Paediatrics, or Womens Health (Obstetrics and Gynecology). These specialties, in general make a lower annual income in the US, than the surgical residencies or anestheisology. Those specialist who have atttended fellowships beyond the primary care residencies will also normally make more in the US.
In the UK, where there are GPs in London the average annual salary for a GP is 69,000 pounds and a Cardio-Thoracic Surgeon is the highest paying physician position in London with an average salary of over 95,000 pounds
Also they do have to pay nearly £5000/annum professional indemnity insurance
