Yes it is legal. Your boss has the right to verify you were working.
“what im saying is can he look at my time sheet and change it to what the GPS says, because GPS does lag.” – Sorry, wrong. The GPS system uses one of the most accurate clocks in the world because time lags would cause the system to fail. Any difference between GPS time and the time you are using would be the same on both ends of a call. So if your watch is 5 minutes fast your time card will show that you got there 5 minutes later than you did and left 5 minutes later than you did. The difference will be the same. davidmi711
Yes, it is legal. Manofstone
His van, his time, his payroll…what would not be legal here? wizjp
totally legal; he is merely supervising your work. Golden
Are you shamming out of work? You must be if you posted this question. RockSolid
Yes it’s legal. Employers can look through your company owned computers, scan your email, etc. They can check your mileage, they can look through your telephone logs. It may sound like a privacy issue, but there are legal differences between what employers (and wives) can do and what the police or government might be allowed to do.
What you employer also may do is use this as documentation to fire you if your records do not agree with the GPS monitoring. Employers are in a difficult bind as the economy is slow. Unless employees are productive and actually earning the money they are being paid, the company can lose profits. When they lose money on you, they’ll get rid of you and hire someone else (there are lots of people out of work who will step in if you’re fired). Patti

He’s allowed to look, there’s no doubt about that.
But, I think that the changing of your time sheet based on what the GPS says is a pretty grey area. Big question is why would he change your timesheet and does he have a good reason?
