I have a Garmin eTrex GPS that did not come with any software, but has a USB port for PC interface. What is the best way to manage my waypoints, tracks, etc? Garmin has Topo map software that can be purchased separately but it is expensive. You’re really paying for the detailed maps, and I don’t need them. I just want to manage my own waypoints on a basic map.

Specifically, I’m wondering how I could go about getting a trail map that I’ve found online, marking waypoints and putting it on my Garmin eTrex. Or creating my own trail in Google Earth.

I am looking for a personal gps unit for hiking and kayaking. I saw one not too long ago that works very very simply. You turn it on and mark your position when starting out and it tells you how to get back. That’s all it does. It is meant to be worn on a jacket zipper or a lanyard. Can someone tall me where to find it or suggest something else? Thanks in advance.

I have a magellan triton 300. It gets the job done, but can be hard to use sometimes. What is the best one I can get for just basic geocaching?

Your trip can be monitored in real time via the internet. Preferably no monthly subscription. I am looking for something to use for hiking, backpacking and running.
