    No. I have a GPS watch that has no maps at all, and some cheaper versions (like Garmin’s eTrex) do not. Usually, the map versions are more expensive, but really handy!

    Some have no maps at all. Those that have maps usually only cover the country they are sold in. In Canada and the USA they may only cover 1 state.

    Better models allow you to buy and install extra software to give coverage of additional areas.

    I doubt there would be a market for world wide coverage even if it existed. Who would need it ?
