		<description>Most of the Garmin products have a 1/2 twist lock somewhere on them that allows you to access the battery. If the batteries are indeed completely dead, then yes, the device may not turn on, even with the car adapter. If it is a water proof unit, like the gamin 205/305 series units, then you will have to send it in for the replacement. The water proof units usually require Garmin them self to replace. I believe this is due to the fact that the gasket that keeps the water out needs to be replaced when its opened. 
Look around on it, it should have a small access panel
