I could only find a few sites that sell them but they cost almost $3000. Why? How can i buy one for a reasonable price?

When you say agricultural spraying you give the impression from an airplane this might be why you are getting a 3000 dollar price. The units actually work in pairs,it does wean that you have to have two but it has to have the capabilities of receiving signals from known points not only satellites. The other thing is that you might want to upload maps of where you are going to be working, there are all kinds of bells and whistles that you may not need.
I would look around for an engineering company may have used equipment or has went bankrupt,or contact a surveying instrument company and be very specific as to what you are looking for and what you are going to do with it.
I think what you might be looking for is what is called an AG-unit and 3000 dollars is a pretty good price.
Go to http//trimble.com. This is the equipment that I worked with, they are very helpful and also very expensive
Good Luck I hope I didn’t confuse you.
