How does GPS work on the Nokia phones?
I’m looking into getting a Nokia e52, but there’s one thing i don’t understand.
How does the GPS support work? And do you have to pay for the service?
Thanks for the replies guys. You both obviously have very differing opinion on the subject.
I wonder is there anyone else who can confirm which is true for the e52?

GPS uses your phone’s internet to connect to Globally Positioned Satellites, which are used to work out your position.
This will cost you whatever your network (O2, 3, Orange for example) charges for internet.
To use GPS, download something like the Google Maps app for your phone. It’ll work similarly to a SatNav. James H
GPS on most nokia phones does not require a payment plan. Unlike some other phones such as AT&t phones that require you to buy a monthly service. I had a nokia n95 and I was able to download the software required for free (available by nokia on their website) to put on my phone. The phone itself has a GPS transmitter that communicates with the satellites and does not use and does not require you to have one unlike many other phones. Therefore you can use the GPS on Nokia phones without having a data plan or special software. Babbar
