gps means

global positioning system

so it will work anywhere in the world , all you have to do is have the software for wherever in the world you are

the one you are buying should cover the whole of the USA

so it will work just fine

all the best

I have been meaning to buy one.
When I rent cars they work anywhere. Seem pretty easy. Usually they have all current American maps in them.
