How to remove sticky mounting disc for GPS from windshield?

just rip it off, then use either rubbing alchohol, paint thinner, or gasoline to get the sticky stuff off. if you use gasoline be very careful
Prepare the surface around the disc by applying a generous
amount of rubbing alcohol to the area with a cotton swab. Let the liquid saturate the adhesive area for about a minute.
Take a long piece of dental floss in each hand and slowly work
back and forth at the base of the adhesive disc. Gently use the
dental floss to cut the adhesive from the dash or console until
the black plastic disc is removed.
run dental floss or fishing line between the mount and the window.
Then you will need to remove the adhesive.
Try to scape it with a razor blade.
finish with some “goo gone” or another adhesive cleaner on a paper towel.
Peel the disc the best you can. After it is off
spray WD40 on the adhesive, and let it soak
a while. Use paper towels to wipe to get the
adhesive off. If the adhesive is thick you may
have to repeat this process a couple of times.
Many stores such as Wal-Mart use this method
to clean adhesive residue from windows, shelves,
walls, and even the tile floors. It works well, and
leaves no trace. If you can, try placing a paper
towel on the spot, soaking it with the WD40, and
leaving it on the spot to saturate. Re-soak the
towel after a while, and let it soak some more.
WD40 will also clean crayon, and some other
markers from painted walls, or paneling without
damage. Just wash the walls afterwards with
some type of soapy cleaner.
Everything Dave J said I agree with especially using WD 40. I use it to remove all that sticky stuff. So Dave’s got my vote.
