Is the iPhone GPS chip strong to compare against standalone Sat Nav?

It is a iPhone 3GS (I know the first version of iPhone doesn’t have a GPS chip).

I have a iPhone 3GS and I like the look of the TomTom App. Can you tell me if the iPhone GPS chip is strong enough to get a decent signal and whether it would “compete” against the strength of a standalone Sat Nav?

    Its not quite as good but not far off, probably good anoth for standered roads Adam

    I have Co-Pilot on my iPhone 3G and it’s more accurate than my Navman GPS! Crim Liar
