As of yet, no I don’t think so. As such a device would most likely be abused and used on humans by the general public (eg. jealous partner keeping tabs on their other half). What you can use is a chip which stores the cats information. If your cat is lost and then found, the finders can take it to a vets or a shelter, which can scan it for the chip and bring it back to you.

GPS doesn’t actually work that way. By triangulating satelite signals, the GPS unit locates your position co-ordinates. It is used to plot in “way points” on a pre-designated path to prevent you from getting lost or to aid you in backtracking should you get lost…cats being cats, they obviously cannot use a GPS unit.

Contact AVID they’re a chip manufacturer and may have some suggestions or may know if something is in the works.

There’s this thing called Home Again where they insert a tracking device under your pet’s skin. You can get it done at most vet’s offices. It’s very small and inserted into their skin with a needle, it’s like them getting a shot.

GPS is not quite the word for it, but yes, there are several tracking devices that you can use on cats and dogs both. Talk to your local vet about the options. Most of them are just a small chip inserted under the skin in the neck. Harmless and pain free for the animal involved.
