My speedomoter doesn’t work and using a mapsco takes time and money away from the business. On most calls we only have 30 minutes to get there or they go to the next towing service in line. I would like suggestions on the best auto GPS system for the money. I also need one that is loud enough to hear in my loud truck. I have a gift card from Walmart. Please advise-

before they had all the computer stuff, I used to drive around different neighborhoods to get familiar with the territory, or simply look at paper maps. Since the computers have been around, everyone has forgotten how to use their own brain. ME included

I normally avoid questions involving opinions, but I think what would be helpful here is a list of features to look for.

Personally, I wanted good navigation algorithms, good quality maps, text-to-speech (ie saying the name of the street). I didn’t need any other features.

I did my homework, rented one unit with a rental car, and borrowed another from a neighbor. Personal experience is a great help when deciding.

I decided to go with the Garmin Nuvi 260, and am quite pleased. You might agree, or strongly disagree with that choice, but the process of listing features and trying units out is a winner.

By the way, I picked up my Nuvi 260 for around $250 online, as a price point.
