This boat has a Magellan GPS and will have a Laptop running whatever NAV software this setup will require. The Idea is to be able to have the boat travel a route as programmed into the GPS waypoint by waypoint. if the PC is not required great!

  1. Caveman says:

Looks like it’s not made to interface with GPS.

We have an older Magellan GPS (Meridian XL) and it interfaced beautifully with our Autohelm 2000+. We have an Acer Aspire laptop (w/Cap’n Voyager program) hooked into the system as well, which we use as a chartplotter, but it is NOT required for us to navigate point-to-point as the GPS transmits data to the Autohelm in the NMEA 0183 format.

You’ll need a power/data cable from Magellan to get it done.

    Good Luck
