I see ones for sale at $150 but are they worth buying for my mother ? I don’t want one that is due to fail or be hard to understand. Getting ready for Christmas.

Any of the “Big 3″ of GPS makers, so that’s Tom Tom, Magellan, and Garmin. I’ve heard of some pretty good ones from MIO but I’ve never used them. And most of the GPS systems that are on sale (in that price range) have similar features anyway, it’s when you go to the high end units (300+) where you definitely want either a Garmin, Magellan, or Tom Tom.

I personally use Magellan because I was a fan of the dragon Magellan on the tv show Eurekas Castle. lol

You can’t go wrong with the Tom Tom One though, just make sure it’s a recent edition.

When looking for one, make sure you get one that can be upgraded. I know some of Magellans current systems can’t be upgraded (I think the Maesto 1400 is one that isn’t upgradeable, but I may be wrong. There’s nothing worse than going to a new development and not having the roads on your GPS.
