    The Garmin 60cx is pretty good. I’ve just finished the fieldwork component of a mapping project and it worked really well. It depends how much you want to spend though, you can get them for a reasonable price new off ebay but you’ll probably want to look around a bit more.

    Just to forewarn you though, take plenty of rechargeable batteries with you (if you’re in the field for 7-8 hours a day, a set of batteries will probably last 3-4 days depending on how good they are). Also, the base map which comes with the GPS is crap, updated ones are pretty expensive and you’ll need to buy a larger microSD card to fit a decent map set on. FA
