What is the first cars that came with a built in GPS navigation system? What year was it? Is it the 1998 Lexus 400? Im not talking about the actual GPS, Im talking about the first car to come with a GPS thats built in.
What year did car companies start to put built in GPS in cars?

I think the first car company that offer GPS as an option was Old’s in their Old 88 and 98 known as the GuideStar.
It was offered also first on the Avis rental vehicle by Visteon AKA PathMaster. This was back in 1995.
Hertz took over the PathMaster GPS rental. Rockwell owned the PathMaster who purchased it from Visteon and Magellan purchased the rights from Rockwell shortly after.
So Magellan GPS systems is currently in the Hertz Rental cars but they never sold it as OEM.

Honda had a GPS that utilized PCMCIA card back around 1995 that was an option for Honda vehicles. Honda GPS was made by Alpine.
