What’s so important about battery life of automobile gps systems?

Does it truly matter if one lasts up to 2 hours (TomTom) and another lasts up to 5? Aren’t these things charging in the car anyway? Just curious.

    If the GPS never leaves the car (a common case) the answer is pretty much as you expect. If you hope to pop it into your pocket while changing rental cars or running into a business meeting or perhaps taking it for a walk or a geocache hunt, battery life can matter.

    If you don’t see yourself using the GPS outside of the car, don’t fret about it.
