~Kay~ asked:

Is there any difference? I’m thinking about buying my step dad a Garmin StreetPilotĀ® c320 GPS Receiver. Is this a regular gps system or not? I’m really not too familiar with these things so your help is GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks!
If a buy a receiver will I need to buy something else with it?

  1. Lefty says:

one is a self contained gps unit, the other is a add on unit to run with a secondary device like a PDA

  2. IRSmurf says:

GPS is a system of satellites that were put in orbit by the US government with tax payer dollars.

A GPS receiver is a piece of equipment that measures the signals from these satellites and plots your position on Earth.

The StreetPilot is a unit with a built-in GPS receiver, as well as pre-loaded detailed mapping of city streets.

If you’re on a tight budget, I recommend looking at the Garmin Nuvi 205, which I’ve seen for as low as $120. Check out the Black Friday deals at: –> This site doesn’t sell anything, it only lists ads for Black Friday sales.
